Choosing the best place for the dog bed. Does it really matters…?
When deciding to buy or adopt a dog, it is worth learning as much as possible about the necessary accessories and, above all, about the behavior of the pet. The purchase of a solid and proven bed is a very good investment. Matching the right size to the specifics of the breed is also a must for every four-legged owner. Interestingly, not everyone is aware that the choice of a place for a dog bed is also of great importance. This is often much more important than simply choosing the best lying model. In this article, we’ll show you why and tell you how to choose the best resting place for your pet.
Some basic rules
The ideal location of a den should meet three basic requirements. First, the dog should like this place and accept it one hundred percent. This is his area where he will be able to rest and regenerate. Secondly, it is good for the bedding to be located away from communication routes at home or in the apartment. Thanks to this, we will guarantee the pet peace during sleep. The animal will not feel stressed when the household is active and will be able to sleep peacefully at any time of the day. The last element will be to guarantee free access to the lair itself and at the same time position it in such a way that our pet has the possibility of constant eye contact with us. This has a positive effect on his well-being and strengthens the feeling of belonging to the family.
Dog bed, i.e. its private area
Just like humans, dogs also need time for themselves. Your pet’s bedding is its private place. It is also a kind of asylum that is associated with peace and relaxation. This means that the lair should not be moved. Under no circumstances should it be a place where we throw unnecessary things, bags or even dirty clothes. Disrupting such a space introduces confusion and can even arouse anxiety. Additionally, remember that the dog should also accept its resting place. Sometimes there are situations in which our four-legged friend does not want to use the space we have organized. It is then a good idea to try a different place and see if the change solves the problem.
Silence is worth its weight in gold!
Often in our lives there are situations that make it difficult to fall asleep, such as noises from outside the window or a party at the neighbor’s. Dogs have much better hearing than humans. This means that they hear far more than we do. That is why when choosing the right place for a dog bed, it is worth thinking about this issue. It is good to find a location far away from the source of sounds. For example, a free piece of flooring right next to a TV or radio will not be the best solution. Remember that dogs need far more sleep than humans. In this case, our pet will only stay awake instead of sleeping and regenerating. This, in turn, will have a negative impact on the regulation of the circadian rhythm. The consequence may be behavioral problems related to disrupting the previously established order.
Remember that your pet’s well-being is very often dependent on you. For example, the dog will not undress if necessary. He will also not wear an additional sweatshirt or sweater. What does this mean in practice? The dog bed should not be located in draughty areas. It will definitely be a bad idea to place the bed next to windows, heaters or air conditioning. Constant changes in temperature can cause the body to overheat or cool down. This may cause the pet’s health problems later on. The right place for a dog’s bed can solve where some disturbing animal behavior comes from. It is worth considering whether this place is properly situated in our home. It is very possible that the wrong location affects sleep problems or hyperactivity of the pet. That is why it is worth considering whether the place we have chosen is pet-friendly. Sometimes a little change can do a lot of good.
